The Invasion
Colonel Reeves was being interrogated by the fraud defense minister. -“Your whole government was blind to this attack and that’s why you will lose” defense minister said.
Reeves was confused, raged and calm at the same time. -“What even is your real name?” asked Reeves.
-“You can call me Kirilov”.
Kirilov explained his whole story how he got to his position as defense minister and being a spy and an officer for the Ruti island at the same time.
-“Don’t you see that your islands people are too weak to win? You have two options now. One, you join us and help us or two, you die.” Kirilov proposed these options to Reeves.
-“And why the fuck wouldn’t i just kill you right here right now?” Reeves asked in anger.
-“You could, but you wont do it because you didn’t like your government and the system anyway, am i correct?”
Kirilov was somewhat correct, Reeves was distancing himself away from the army and his duties because of politics and the elites of the island.
“You have until tomorrow to decide” said Kirilov before sending Reeves to his prison cell.
The Ruti army had advanced now to the main islands and the capital. Huge battles and bombings shook the island and armies on both sides. The situation looked bad for archipelago and it’s people.
Backstory to this conflict was that the archipelago and Ruti island have had many various wars and conflicts. The archipelago is a large group of islands that are run by one government and it’s military. The Ruti island had always been the northern evil aggressor at least according to people of the archipelago.
Several islands north of archipelago had been conflicted areas due to former borders and countries. Ruti island has always included these islands to their territory. These islands have always had large population of Ruti people making the islands sensitive to a conflict.
Reeves was thinking about the situation and how he is going to solve this. Reeves just thought that the best option was to escape both sides and leave to live a better life. But this wasn’t an option right now, Reeves had to join them or die.
It was the middle of the night when soldiers stormed in to Reeves’s cell and dragged him out to Kirilov.
-“Well, what do you choose?” asked Kirilov while pointing a pistol at his head. Reeves agreed to join the Ruti forces -“You will regret this” said Reeves after joining.
-“Great! Now lets go plan the rest of the invasion” said excited Kirilov. Reeves and Kirilov joined the Ruti officers in the conference room of the battleship. Reeves saw outside of the window that the capital was besieged and on fire.
The Ruti officers were sceptical of Reeves but respected the decision of Kirilov. The officers decided to make a raid to the main governmental building in the city. Objective was to capture rest of the officials and generals dead or alive.
Reeves and Kirilov were assigned to the assault group consisting of elite special forces. The group went over the plan the night before raid. Reeves was well known officer in the archipelagos special forces before his assignment to other military duties. Kirilov on the other hand was educated in the secret service of Ruti, making Kirilov better assassin and spy rather than soldier.
The battleship was stationed just outside the capital island making the attack on boats short. The raid started early in the morning when the only light was from the explosions. Firefighting and bombing echoed through the waters when the group left the ship with three assault boats. The Ruti army had been forced to intense city fighting in the streets making the battle of the capital more bloody and longer.
For the groups advantage, the shores had already been invaded by Ruti so the arrival was smooth.
The group gathered all men and equipment and went through the plan for the last time.
-“Right men! All clear about the raid? Remember to avoid gunfire near the governmental palace so we don’t get exposed. This is a stealth mission right when we get past the enemy lines and to the inner city” Kirilov explained to the group.
Reeves checked his gear and joined the lead group. The group marched past Ruti groups and checkpoints at the same time gathering information about possible breakthrough points where there wouldn’t be any enemy resistance.
-“Just be careful while you’re past the battle zone. Inner city is swarmed with archipelagos forces and we suspect that near the palace is very heavy guarding” explained one Ruti officer to Kirilov just before breaking through the lines.
Here the knowledge of Reeves came to hand when moving through the tight city streets.
The streets and buildings were mostly destroyed and damaged making the movement slow trough the inner city.
Heavy rain started when the group got to their resting point at a destroyed apartment building. Snipers positioned to the windows to watch for enemy forces.
The upcoming raid was going to be hard so the group went to rest before continuing at night.
